What is a Phenotype?

At Bio Health Coaching, we use a cutting-edge Epigenetic Health Platform to perform your health assessment and generate your completely unique health profile. The blueprint of the body in it's ideal state is called your Genotype. How your Genotype (Health Type) and genes interact with your environment is called your Phenotype. The platform takes decades of scientific research, across 15 different proven sciences, and uses an algorithm to generate your unique health blueprint. It takes body shape/typology to a whole other level!


The platform uses a series of questions and measurements (did you know that if your ring finger is longer than your index finger, it indicates a particular hormone dominance while you were being formed in your mother's womb?!) to determine your Phenotype. It's completely non-invasive and only takes about 90 minutes to complete.


There are six main Health Types, which all have different characteristics (think personality profiling on steroids). However even though you may share the same Health Type as someone else, hundreds of your food, exercise and lifestyle recommendations could be completely different - based on the answers to your assessment and how your individual genes are interacting with your environment.


All 6 Health Types sit on a Health Circle which is 360 degrees, and your profile will sit somewhere on that 360 degree circle. Some of the food recommendations our App recommends may change each month depending on the climate, your stress levels, the quality of your sleep etc, but the basics such as whether you are a night owl or an early bird, will not change.


Our platform uses your unique biology to determine the best recommendations for you to live in optimal health. Did you know that even exercising at high intensities at the wrong time of the day can cause you so much stress to your system that you may be better off just going for a walk or not exercising at all? Crazy right?!


For a Diplomat, sometimes simply changing the timing of meals each day can have a profound impact on their health. By following their meal timing recommendations, a Diplomat may experience easy weight loss and have more sustained energy over the course of the day, because for a Diplomat it is important to not over-stress their digestive system as they will feel sluggish, have brain fog and struggle to lose weight.


However for a Crusader, it's vital that they eat frequently (at least 5 times per day) and lots of Carbohydrates or they will feel hangry and stuggle to maintain physical and mental energy.


This is one of the many reasons why personalised health is vital to achieve optimal health. A once size fits all approach does not work when it comes to health and weight loss. As a Personal Trainer I spent decades using my knowledge and experience to try and predict the best diet and exercise program for clients, only to find that there was always a small potion of clients who did not get the results they were hoping for, even though they were working really hard.
